Can you quote my limousine insurance? Do you have cheap limousine insurance? Will you help with our limousine insurance? Why is limousine insurance so expensive? Can you provide options for limousine insurance? Is your limousine insurance better than “XYZ” insurance company?
These are just a few of the questions heard on a regular basis, so I wanted to give you the answers here:
The answers to questions regarding limousine insurance are different for most every livery business and dependent on the scope of operations, location, loss history, type of automobiles and any other factor deemed important by the underwriting insurance carrier. After answering for many years, I decided to elaborate on how and why we respond as we do.
1. Can you quote my limousine insurance?
Most often, the answer is yes. If we can make available to the underwriting carrier the auto schedule, driver schedule, loss runs and all underwriting information, then we should be in a position to help with limousine insurance. However, to truly be of service and assist, we will attempt to offer more than just a quote. A quote is a number. A proposal will share details of protection, cost, carrier information, etc.
2. Do you have cheap limousine insurance?
Be careful with this one! If you are in search of “cheap” , you will find it. Not only is cheap limousine insurance available, it is easily obtained and most often followed by cheap service and cheap claim representation.
There are several ways to make limousine insurance cheap: extra policy exclusions, high deductibles, liability deductibles, strict mileage radius, restrictive physical damage protection, manuscript policy forms, and the list can go on and on.
So yes, cheap limousine insurance is available but we do not recommend it. Cheap limousine insurance can be one of the most expensive purchases made by a limousine industry professional.
3. Will you help with our limousine insurance?
The answer to this one is most often decided by the person asking. Getting help with limousine insurance is easy if the help is welcomed. Insurance carriers and brokers can be helpful but only if the business owner allows time for discussion and negotiation.
Often, getting help with limousine insurance is viewed only as an exercise in the bidding process, which eventually results in a dissatisfied business owner. Yes, you can get help with limousine insurance but only if you sincerely want it. (If a cheap quote is the true desire, refer to question #2.)
4. Can you offer a variety of options for limousine insurance?
Yes, we can and are glad to do it. Options always result in a more satisfied, informed client. While a large segment of livery company owners may be shielded from options, the options are available. Options can include hired auto liability, non-owned auto liability, non-owned physical damage, towing coverage, roadside assistance, loss of income, no deductible for windshield claims and the list can continue.
Options are not hard to get, however, they are almost impossible unless there is time to negotiate, discuss and review. An insurance carrier offering limousine insurance wants profitable business and can often provide options that make their product attractive. Keep in mind, a quote usually doesn’t include options.
In order to receive the best options, a detailed proposal is required. So yes, we can offer a variety of options.
5. Is your insurance better than “XYZ” Insurance Company?
The answer to this question can go either way. If the customer provides minimal information to “XYZ” Insurance Company while providing abundant details to our carriers, then yes, ours should be the better option. Of course, if “XZY” has abundant details and we do not, their option will be better.
Whomever has the most information and time to negotiate will most often provide the best protection.
The process of insuring limousines can be relatively easy or extremely tough, depending on the information and time available. It is always beneficial to view limousine insurance in the same manner as the livery company owner views his/her limousines and services. Automobiles used for luxury transportation are not average automobiles.
They are expensive, nice, clean and comfortable. The services offered by a luxury transportation company are not average. The services are designed to be more than just a ride in a car or stretched automobile.
To properly protect investment, it is always best to insure limousines and other livery automobiles with the same care and service you offer. It is never wise to cheaply and inadequately protect that for which you have spent much time, effort, energy and money to build.
